Mike Portnoy plays Neil Peart songs on a children's drum kit.

Portnoy paid homage to his idol Neil Peart with a playful tribute for Loudwire.

Mike Portnoy , from Sons of Apollo and formerly of Dream Theater Loudwire 's Gear Factor segment Neil Peart songs on a children's drum kit.

“Meil was one of my all-time greatest heroes, and you give me this to work with?” he jokingly complains about the small jazz kit.

After the lighthearted moment, Portnoy speaks about his friend. “Losing Neil has been devastating and heartbreaking. I don’t want this to sound light. To be serious for a moment, we’re going to donate this kit. I’ll autograph it and the proceeds will go to a brain cancer research institution. I just wanted to say, Neil, rest in peace. You will always be my hero and I love you. Thank you for everything.”
