In an interview with Anne Erickson of Audio Ink, former Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy stated that Metal has never been as big, as good, and as strong as it is today:
“I think Metal is bigger and better now than ever before. It went through a tough period in the late 1990s. And all my favorite bands went through those terrible changes and business pretty much stopped.”
Portnoy adds:
"But I would say that in the last 15 years, it's back, bigger and better and stronger than ever."
When asked about his five favorite metal albums, the drummer cited Vol. 3 , along with Reign In Blood (Slayer), Piece Of Mind (Iron Maiden), Master Of Reality (Black Sabbath), and Kill 'Em All (Metallica).
Mike Portnoy also spoke about the excellent chemistry that exists between the members of Sons Of Apollo. The band will be performing in Brazil in April. See the details here .
