Mike Patton became irritated last Sunday, the 11th, with a drone that was flying over the stage at Knotfest Chile during his performance and tried to destroy it. Amateur video of the moment, taken by a fan in the audience, and the video recorded by the drone itself can be seen at the end of this article.
The incident occurred while the band Mr. Bungle , of which he is a member, was playing a cover and medley " Hell Awaits/Summer Breeze " by Slayer and Seals and Crofts , respectively. When Mike saw the drone flying towards him, he gave it the middle finger and gestured for it to come closer, but failed to hit the object with the microphone. The drone then moved away from the musician.
It is unclear whether the drone belonged to the event's production team or to a fan operating it illegally.
The show in Chile also marked Patton's return to the stage after canceling performances last year due to a diagnosis of agoraphobia.
These drone intrusions have become quite frequent. In November, it was Axl Rose to complain about the unauthorized presence of the equipment during a performance in Australia. “People got angry. As much as we're having fun, we still try to stay focused, do our job and put on the best show possible for the fans anyway. We understand, it must be fun to make your pirate drone video, but we'd be happy if anyone planning to fly a pirate drone into the show could consider the band and the fans, and use their toy somewhere else. Thank you in advance,” he vented on social media .
Finally, Mike Patton will perform alongside Mr. Bungle at the Brazilian edition of Knotfest , which takes place in São Paulo this Sunday, the 18th. The festival, created by Slipknot, also features Bring Me The Horizon , Trivium, and more.
