Mick Ralphs , guitarist and co-founder of Bad Company and Mott the Hoop , died this Monday, June 23, at the age of 81. The musician had been suffering from health problems for a decade. The information was released by Paul Rodgers , vocalist of Bad Company, through social media.
Rodgers commented: “Our Mick Ralphs has passed away. My heart is broken. He left us with exceptional music and memories. He was my friend, my songwriting partner, an incredible and versatile guitarist with an extraordinary sense of humor. Our last conversation, a few days ago, gave us many laughs, but it won't be the last. There are many memories of Mick that will make you laugh. My condolences to all who loved him, especially his true love, Susie Chavasse . See you in heaven.”
Simon Kirke , drummer for Bad Company, also commented: “He was a dear friend, a wonderful songwriter and an exceptional guitarist. We will miss him very much.”
In a fitting tribute to the band's enduring influence, Bad Company will be inducted into the
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame later this year.
