Last Wednesday, the 24th, marked the sad one-year anniversary of Charlie Watts . The Rolling Stones passed away at the age of 80 and received a tribute from his friend and bandmate Mick Jagger on social media.

The vocalist shared a video montage containing various images of Charlie Watts throughout the years. The video's soundtrack is the Rolling Stones' own track "Till The Next Goodbye," accompanied by a voice message from Mick Jagger.

“I miss Charlie because he had a great sense of humor,” says the singer. “And outside the band we hung out a lot and had fun. We loved sports: we went to football games, cricket matches, and we had other interests in common besides music. But of course I miss Charlie a lot.”

On Twitter , the official Rolling Stones account also wrote: “One year without our beloved Charlie. We are remembering him and all the incredible things he accomplished in his life.”

The Rolling Stones' thoughts on Charlie Watts

In October, the members of the Rolling Stones commented on their last meeting with Charlie Watts. Ronnie Wood said he was one of the last people to see his friend alive, in a hospital room where he himself had been hospitalized the previous year.

“We called the room the Rolling Stones suite,” Wood said. Relating the last time he saw Watts alive, he said, “We watched a horse race on TV and just enjoyed the moment. You could see he was very tired of it all.”

A few months later, Keith Richards commented that losing someone like Charlie in a band like the Rolling Stones makes everything "fall apart," while Mick Jagger revealed the moments when he missed his friend the most.
