Mick Jagger is considering donating the Rolling Stones' catalog to charity instead of his children.

The estimated revenue from the sale of the rights would be 2.5 billion reais.

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal , Mick Jagger was asked about the possibility of selling the Rolling Stones post-1971 catalog.

NME explains , the lead singer surprised everyone by revealing that he has no plans to sell the rights to his music or leave them as an inheritance for his children. Instead, Mick Jagger said he is considering donating the Rolling Stones' catalog to charity.

"Come on, my children don't need 500 million dollars to live well. Maybe we can do some good for the world," he commented.

The $500 million mentioned by Mick Jagger would be equivalent to 2.5 billion reais. It is unclear whether the mentioned amount refers only to his share of the rights or to the Rolling Stones' work as a whole.

Currently, the singer has 8 children, including Lucas Jagger , 24, from his relationship with Brazilian presenter and model Luciana Gimenez . The ages of Mick's children range from 52 (the oldest daughter) to 6 (the youngest).

Later in the interview, the lead singer commented that the Rolling Stones do not own the rights to some of their biggest hits and compared the band's situation to the problems Taylor Swift faced with the sale of her catalog by her former record label.

“The industry was so nascent that it didn’t have the support and the number of people available to advise you like they do now,” he said in the interview. “But you know, that still happens. I mean, look what happened with Taylor Swift! I don’t really know the details of it, but she obviously wasn’t happy.”
