On Tuesday the 13th, the world was surprised by an unusual partnership. Mick Jagger and Dave Grohl joined forces to release the new song "Eazy Sleazy," with Jagger on vocals and guitar, while Grohl handled the drums, bass, and some guitar parts.
“Eazy Sleazy” is a fun rock track about COVID-19, or more specifically, about the moment when the world can finally emerge from the state of alert and lockdown. The song has a lyric video featuring footage of Jagger and Grohl playing in the studio and having fun.
In an interview with Consequence of Sound , Mick Jagger revealed how he chose the Foo Fighters founder for the collaboration. “I thought, ‘Who is very experienced in working from home that I could work with remotely and would really throw myself into it?’ And I thought Dave would be a great person to do it, and he’s a great drummer. I really wanted a live drumming session, so that’s why I thought Dave would be amazing. I spoke to him and he said, ‘I’m going to do it tomorrow.’ I said, ‘Okay’,” he recounted.
Jagger also commented that they based it on the demo he had made and that Dave Grohl “got into the vibe” immediately. “He just likes to play with enthusiasm,” Jagger praised. “He’s a very laid-back guy, very enthusiastic to work with, so I enjoyed that. It didn’t take long, it was ready in a couple of sessions.”
