Mick Fleetwood released the live version of "Albatross" alongside David Gilmour . The single is part of the musician's upcoming album, packed with special guest appearances to celebrate the work of Peter Green and the early sound of Fleetwood Mac .

Peter Green, co-founder of Fleetwood Mac, died in July 2020. Following the death of his friend and former bandmate, Mick gathered a star-studded lineup in London for an evening that will be released on the album Mick Fleetwood & Friends Celebrate The Music Of Peter Green and The Early Years Of Fleetwood Mac .

“I remember David Gilmour coming to see Fleetwood Mac with Peter in New York at the Scene club, which was a small venue where Hendrix and his crew would show up to play all night,” Mick recalled. “When I contacted him and asked if he would play a song or two at the tribute, I received the most unbelievable letter back, in which he said he wasn’t sure if he could do the songs justice and that he had so much reverence for them that he wasn’t sure if he was brave enough to try.”

This first contact happened three years before Green's death, as the project was already in Mick's plans. After the loss of his colleague, the musician resumed contact with Gilmour, who finally accepted and chose the track "Albatross".

The album is scheduled for release on April 30th by BMG, and features contributions from Neil Finn, Jeremy Spencer and Christine McVie (also from Fleetwood Mac), Noel Gallagher, Steven Tyler (Aerosmith), Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top), Zak Starkey and Pete Townshend (The Who), Kirk Hammett (Metallica) and Bill Wyman (Rolling Stones).
