The album will be released in 2018
Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett recorded a guest appearance on the new album by Michael Schenker Fest, the project of German musician Michael Schenker.
In an interview with Metal Discovery , Schenker reveals that the guitarist recorded a track in a studio in Hawaii with the album's producer, Michael Voss.
“Kirk is a fan of Michael Schenker and he became a friend. And he plays in the biggest band on this planet ,” Schenker says, “so I asked if he wanted to do this and he was very happy. Michael Voss went to him and they recorded a track .
Schenker also revealed in the interview that the album was recorded in four different locations over a period of five months. The guest appearances on the album don't stop with Kirk Hammett.
The musician mentions that the three original vocalists of the Michael Schenker Group, Gary Barden, Graham Bonnet, and Robin McAuley, also participate in the album, in addition to Doogie White, who plays with him in Michael Schenker's Temple Of Rock.
“Doogie sings on three tracks and Gary on another three… in about three or four songs they sing together ,” he says, “you know, one sings the verse, Gary sings the bridge and Robin sings the chorus and so on… It’s really cool to have these different voices singing the same lyrics.”
Kirk Hammett and Michael Schenker have played together several times since their first meeting on That Metal Show in April 2015.
Michael Schenker Fest's new album doesn't yet have a release date or title, but it's expected to be released in the first half of 2018 by Nuclear Blast.
