Michael Kiske on Helloween's album with Andi Deris: "There's no competition"

Singers share vocals on tracks from the band's new album

Throughout almost four decades of Helloween , the band has gone through some lineup changes and featured different vocalists. With the band's reunion, all phases of the group began to coexist in harmony – something that will now be seen in the studio.

Michael Kiske left the band in the 1990s and was replaced by Andi Deris , still considered by many to be "the new vocalist." In an interview with Wikimetal after listening to the band's new album, the self-titled one that will be released in June, the group commented on this dynamic.

"I had a lot of fun writing songs not only for my voice, but also for one of the greatest vocalists out there," Deris began, speaking about the alternating vocals in the new songs.

“The whole process, including the spirit, was simply perfect. If I felt that one of the parts wasn’t going to fit right, I’d ask Andi if he could sing and vice versa,” Kiske continued. “There’s no competition whatsoever – what mattered is what’s best for each party. And I’m so grateful to be part of this crazy family (again). I love them all.”.
