Straight from the Marvelous City (Rio de Janeiro), a band that has been producing quality Metal since 1983 is featured on this week's "National Pride" program, which includes a very cool conversation with André Bighinzoli from Metalmorphose.
André talked about the new album and the shows that promise to break the audience's necks.
Metalmorphose returns to the scene in full force, bringing even more pride to our nation.
Rafael Masini: Okay, folks, let's begin this National Pride segment. Dany, I don't know about you, but I like it when National Pride comes with this extra touch, this unique element.
Daniel Dystyler: That's an interview you, Rafael Masini, managed to get. Tell our Wikibroders who will be here at Orgulho Nacional.
RM: Look, it's a band that started way back in '83, Metalmorphose is back now, releasing an excellent album. We're going to call André, the bassist from Metalmorphose.
DD: Let's call.
RM: Hello, André?
André Bighinzoli: Oops!
RM: Rafael, how are you?
AB: Hey, how's it going?
RM: Okay, it's Rafael and Daniel from Wikimetal, who also co-host the podcast with me.
DD: Hi André, how are you?
AB: Okay, how's it going, Daniel?
DD: That's great. We're very happy to have Metalmorphose here at Wikimetal's National Pride event, it's really cool. We'll ask you a few questions and we'll also request some of your music, is that okay?
AB: Great!
RM: Tell us a little about this comeback, this new CD… How was this conceived, what motivated you? Well, let's start there, then I'll ask about future plans.
AB: Metalmorphose is a group that emerged in the 80s, as you know, and our main activity was between '84 and '86. The group disbanded in the 80s. And in 2007 I had this idea to get everyone together so we could do a commemorative show. That was the idea.
RM: Okay.
AB: Because we honestly didn't imagine we'd get back together as a group, even though it was something very important and dear to us. And when we reunited, it was fantastic, because it was almost like a renewal, a new life, you know? We truly rediscovered each other. And first we released the old material, you know, we released "Ultimatum," we took that demo that became the CD "Maldição," which could have been at the time…
RM: And there was a live performance too, wasn't there?
AB: Exactly. So that famous show, which was the comeback show, the first show, was recorded. And it was such a cool thing, because a show after 23 years… Both us and the audience, you know, everyone was very curious, the old ones… And the new ones too, because people under 23 weren't even old enough to have seen Metalmorphose. It was so great that we ended up releasing it on CD and DVD as well; it's on DVD. But from there, we started working on new material because we discovered the following: that the band had indeed returned, really returned. Returned body and soul, returned legitimately. And we started composing, and now we've released this album of unreleased tracks, which is Metalmorphose's first long-play of unreleased material in 25 years, which is "Máquina dos Sentidos," which is the album that just finished. Actually, it's already available digitally on Musitrax, the website is www.musitrax.com.br, we're selling it. And the Digipak, the physical CD, is arriving next week. In fact, it will be in our hands by Wednesday. And it will be available for sale at the shows we're planning, with Stress, Centúrias and Salário Mínimo here in Rio, on October 6th and 7th, the following day in São Paulo, at Manifesto, and we'll also be playing in Belém on November 10th with Stress and other local bands as well.
RM: André, let's request a song? Announce a song from your new work so we can play it here on Wikimetal.
AB: I'd like to request "Máscara," a song from our album "Máquina dos Sentidos," a new album that was released in 2012. And I hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it!
DD: That was "Máscara" by Metalmorphose. Really cool, André. I wanted to thank you so much for being here; the doors of Wikimetal are always open for you to showcase your work.
RM: And André, tell us again so we can wrap things up, the date of the show, both there in Rio and here in São Paulo. Remember that it's a very important show, because besides you guys launching this new album, as you said, with the album there to sell, there's Stress, which is also a band from way back, and Centúrias too, the big dog on vocals.
AB: Absolutely. First of all, I want to thank Wikimetal, you, Rafael, and Daniel. Wikimetal is on fire, and we're very proud to be here too. The shows: Metalmorphose, Stress celebrating 30 years since their first album, and Centúrias celebrating their return. We'll also be with Salário Mínimo on October 6th in Rio de Janeiro, at the Lona Cultural de Realengo, a fantastic show. The following day, October 7th, Sunday, after you all vote, at Manifesto Bar, it will be Centúrias, Stress, and Metalmorphose, and the launch of our new album "Máquina dos Sentidos". So listen up everyone, we're coming back strong. The veterans are back in full force.
DD: That's it, André from Metalmorphose on Wikimetal. Thank you very much, thanks André.
RM: Thanks a lot, André, good luck! I'll definitely be at the Manifesto, I'll chat with you.
AB: Absolutely, absolutely! I'll give you guys a hug.
RM: Yes, I will. This comeback is really cool, you know. We're happy that this is happening again, all of us who went to the shows in the 80s, now we can see it again. We saw Salário too, it's really great, it gives strength to these young people, saying "It is possible to move forward".
AB: Yeah, yeah. I'm very satisfied, man, I'm really happy, and very happy with your support too.
DD: And the doors are always open there. Thanks!
RM: Hugs, André. Thanks!
AB: A hug, thank you!
RM: Bye bye.
AB: Bye.
