This is not a test: tomorrow, July 15th, we will have a new Metallica .

The news came directly from vocalist James Hetfield , who posted an audio message briefly commenting on the release, "Hi, this is James from Metallica, stay tuned on Wednesday to hear a new Metallica song from S&M2 ."

Even though the band recently formed , the release doesn't seem to be a recording made during quarantine. This is evident in clues about the possible new release tomorrow on the band's YouTube channel, with a trailer for S&M2 and a live version of the track "All Within My Hands" scheduled for tomorrow.

Furthermore, drummer Lars Ulrich had previously announced that the September 2019 shows in San Francisco, held to celebrate the anniversary of the live album S&M, would receive a box in the second half of the year.
