Metal Blade Records is preparing to reissue the original version of Metallica as part of the celebrations for the 40th anniversary of the Metal Massacre Volume One .

According to a statement from the record label, the song will be released on vinyl for the first time since 1984 on April 22nd. The rarity is notable for having been recorded when Dave Mustaine was the band's lead guitarist.

Mustaine stayed in the band for 11 months after being kicked out, shortly before the recording of Kill 'Em All, Metallica's debut album, began. The official version of "Hit The Lights" was re-recorded with Kirk Hammett.

The compilation was originally released on June 14, 1982, and featured material from other bands in the scene at the time, such as "Tell the World" by Ratt , "Cold Day in Hell" by Steeler , and "Captive of Light" by Mallice .

The reissue of Metal Massacre Volume One will have only 5,000 copies on red vinyl. Sales will take place on the Metal Blade website , and Metallica will sell 2,000 copies online store
