Stranger Things scene set to Metallica has been one of the main topics on the internet since the release of the final episodes of the fourth season of the Netflix series. With the success came the fear among some fans about the band's increased popularity, revealing a line of "idiotic thinking" among rock and heavy metal fans, in Regis Tadeu .
The music critic analyzed this type of attitude from those self-proclaimed "true fans," supposedly superior to newcomers, an attitude rejected even by Metallica , who reminded their followers that everyone had a starting point when they began to enjoy heavy music.
"It's clear that this idiotic thinking is very common in the world of rock fans, especially heavy metal fans. It arises when this group of 'true fans' realize that the object of their idolatry is becoming extremely popular. What happens? They start to criticize the new fans," he described.
Who hasn't heard discussions about the supposed death of Metallica, a band that still draws hundreds of thousands of people to concerts around the world? This aspect of "rocker thinking" was also discussed in the video.
“In more radical cases, these same orthodox fans end up blaming the idol and the band for this popularization, and glorify only the past of their idols. Only the true fan, the metal warrior, knows how to appreciate the sound; only they know the complete discography and are familiar with all the music,” he added.
Regis Tadeu also pointed out how current journalism is giving a voice to a "handful" of people with this type of thinking. Watch the full video below.
