Metallica: “Sad But True” gets a country makeover with Jason Isbell on vocals

This version is part of the 30th anniversary special edition of 'The Black Album'

As part of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of The Black Album , Metallica decided to release a compilation of covers of the album performed by 53 artists as part of the special box set The Metallica Blacklist .

After Miley Cyrus and Elton John of " Nothing Else Matters ," the track "Sad But True" received two distinct versions. One was done by singer St. Vincent , and the other is by Jason Isbell , who created a country-oriented version of the song – check it out below. A demo by Metallica themselves was also released.

Other previously released versions included the original demo of "Enter Sandman" and the cover version by Colombian singer Juanes.
