The cover was a tribute to the band in their hometown
During their current tour, Metallica has been performing unusual covers, paying homage to the local music scene of each city they visit. This particular moment happens only between guitarist Kirk Hammett and bassist Rob Trujillo , who also tries his hand at vocals.
When the group was in Europe, they covered ABBA 's "Dancing Queen , Oasis ' "Don't Look Back in Anger," and Celtic Frost 's "Procreation Of The Wicked ." Now, in the United States, Hammett and Trujillo have attempted a reinterpretation of "Garbage " in the group's hometown of Madison, Wisconsin.
The song chosen was “Stupid Girl” from their self-titled debut album released in 1995. Watch the performance below.
