Metallica 's grand new world tour kicked off in late April in Amsterdam, Netherlands. With the stage in the center of the arenas where the shows were held, fans recorded Lars Ulrich from a privileged vantage point at the tour's opening night.

The performance took place at the Johan Cruijff Arena on April 27th. In videos captured by the audience, we can watch Ulrich playing the classics "Sad But True" and "Nothing Else Matters" from an angle not always seen by the audience, since traditional stages are located on one side of arenas and stadiums, instead of being surrounded by fans as in the case of the M72 World Tour .

Metallica's new tour will last two years and features the metal icons playing two nights in each city with different setlists. Opening acts include Pantera, Mammoth WVH, Five Finger Death Punch, Ice Nine Kills , and Architects . The band has a packed schedule of shows across Europe and North America until September 2024; see all the dates here .
