Band speaks in video.
In a video released to promote Metallica's new book, "Back To Front," which recalls the recording era of Master Of Puppets, Metallica remembers their bassist Cliff Burton in several testimonials.
Trujillo speaks first: “Cliff Burton was a unique musician for me and a great influence later in my career. I began to realize that there was something profound about this guy. He is special and I love taking influences from people who I feel are special.”
James Hetfield says: “I still miss Cliff, and I would love to see him again someday. So seeing photos I’d never seen before, especially from the time we were together, is incredible. Having another memory of him in my heart is very good.”
Ulrich spoke about Cliff Burton’s father: “Ray is a great human being and of course, the fact that he’s Cliff Burton’s father is another reason for us to love having him here. But it’s not the main reason. Ray went through all of this with a smile on his face, and every time he enters a room or anywhere we are, he always has this incredible positive energy.”
Kirk Hammett also speaks of Cliff: “I respect Cliff’s memory and everything he stood for. I try to defend the same ideals.”
