Metallica has announced the highly anticipated re-release of Load , an album originally released in 1996, which will arrive in a remastered version on June 13th (via Metal Injection ). The new edition offers a true treasure trove for fans, including unreleased versions, live performances, demos, and much more.
Remastered by Reuben Cohen , with supervision from producer Greg Fidelman , the album gains new life with updated sound quality — and it's already possible to listen to the new version of "Hero Of The Day," a track that helps reinforce the album's importance in the band's trajectory.
Among the highlights is the complete version of "The Outlaw Torn," which had to be shortened at the time due to technical limitations. In addition, the special box set includes:
- Load (remastered) on double 180g LP and CD
- Picture disc of “Mama Said”
- Three live LPs
- 15 CDs
- Four DVDs with never-before-seen content, including live performances, demos, and rough mixes.
- Card for MP3 downloads
- Collector's items, such as a Lollapalooza poster, a Pushead patch, a Rolling Stone cover, guitar picks, and even Rorschach Test cards.
- Folder with handwritten letters
- Hardcover book with 128 pages packed with photos and behind-the-scenes stories.
For those seeking something more compact, there will also be a 3-CD version with demos and live tracks, packaged in a digipak with an embossed cover and a 36-page booklet. And of course, simple CD and vinyl editions will also be available.
The announcement comes amid the M72 , which continues touring the world with a powerful line-up of guest bands: Pantera , Suicidal Tendencies , Limp Bizkit , and Ice Nine Kills .
