Metallica performed a cover of Neil Diamond at their last show in Boston. The song holds special significance for the city's sports fans. For over 20 years, Red Sox supporters have sung the song midway through the eighth inning of every Boston game at their home stadium, Fenway Park .

Robert Trujillo and Kirk Hammett brought the music to the delight of baseball fans. “This song is really scary, super heavy, and if you start moshing try not to hurt yourself, because it’s such a scary song that I’m already shaking,” joked Trujillo before starting. The audience sang along throughout the performance, completing all the “Boom, boom, boom” and “So good! So good! So good!” moments perfectly.

It's become a tradition at Metallica, Trujillo, and Hammett concerts to play a song that has some significance to the city where they're performing. Examples include "Carry On Wayward Son" by Kansas in Kansas and "We're an American Band" by Grand Funk Railroad in Michigan.

Metallica concert almost cancelled

Metallica's 15-song performance at Gillette Stadium was delayed due to rain. The audience even had to evacuate the stadium before the show. However, the venue's curfew was extended to allow the band to play a full set that ended with "One" and "Enter Sandman".

Currently, Metallica is touring the world with the M72 World Tour , promoting their latest album , 72 Seasons. However, on this tour, the band plays two completely different sets on two different nights in each city they visit.
