The band released the album Garage Inc. more than two decades ago.
Lars Ulrich , drummer for Metallica , answered some fan questions during an interview with the British magazine Kerrang! and revealed that the group is thinking about releasing a new album of covers.
When asked if Metallica is considering releasing a successor to Garage Inc. , the musician replied, "Wait and see," implying that the group is already planning something of that nature.
Garage Inc. cover album is famous for featuring versions of songs by Misfits, Black Sabbath , and the iconic rendition of "Whiskey in the Jar," a traditional Irish song adapted in the 1970s by Thin Lizzy .
Currently, Metallica is on tour promoting the album Hardwired…To Self Destruct . The group's most recent work is the acoustic album Helping Hands… Live & Acoustic At The Masonic , recorded during a benefit concert in San Francisco.
