Another Monday, another Metallica !
Today's show took place in 2016 in London, at the House of Vans . The venue itself is a spectacle, consisting of underground tunnels, the so-called Old Vic Tunnels , which previously hosted art events. The venue was closed in 2013 and reclaimed by Vans in 2014, who transformed the tunnels into a skate with spaces for music and art performances, and even a café/bar.
The setlist begins with "Breadfan," a 1973 cover of Budgie that, for many years, was used as the soundtrack for the Globo Esporte program .
“Whiskey In The Jar”, the thirteenth song on the setlist , is another cover performed by Metallica. The traditional Irish song, made famous by the great Thin Lizzy, was very successful in Brazil; however, it only makes up about 3% of Metallica's concert setlists
A curious fact about these two songs that gained prominence in this Metallica performance is that the music video for "Whiskey In The Jar" begins with scenes of a party where "Breadfan" is playing in the background!
The show ends in the most rock 'n' roll possible: with guitarist Kirk Hammett getting a huge pie in the face for his birthday.
