Forbes the renowned American magazine, recently released a list Metallica tops the ranking , highlighting, as the magazine points out, their unprecedented popularity, influence over generations, and shaping modern heavy metal.
The following bands completing the podium are Black Sabbath , a pioneer within the metal genre back in the 70s, and Iron Maiden , equally one of the most legendary and globally acclaimed. Forbes editors explained that, for the ranking, they prioritized bands that made a significant contribution to the development of heavy metal. In addition, the current relevance of these groups was also considered.
"While it's impossible to include all subgenres of metal in this type of list, the most prominent and influential in metal today were given priority." In the same text, the editors also highlighted that the chosen bands are "unquestionably a metal band first and foremost.".
One of the highlights of the list is Ozzy Osbourne , who, in addition to appearing in second place with Black Sabbath, is sixth as a solo artist. Furthermore, Avenged Sevenfold , who have been around for 25 years, are the youngest band among the top 10. And finally, from the Brazilian scene, the only representation is Sepultura , appearing in 21st position.
