It's no secret that St. Anger Metallica fans . Even so, the band doesn't stop playing songs from the infamous album on tour and shows a lightheartedness when the audience reception isn't the best, as demonstrated after being booed at a recent show.
Frontman James Hetfield dared to ask fans about the controversial release at several shows on the most recent tour, including in Brazil, when he simply asked "St. Anger?" before performing "Dirty Widow" in São Paulo and received some negative head nods from the audience.
But the negative reaction isn't always so polite, as shown in a video from an unidentified concert by the band. In the performance, Hetfield displays good humor while posing the delicate question to the fans. “Are you having fun? Then you can stop. I have a question for you, and you can answer it honestly, to the best of your ability. St. Anger?”, he asks, giving a thumbs-up.
The audience's reaction live is as divided as one might expect, with many people booing the album. The second time he asks, the singer demonstrates he understands the audience's position by making a negative hand gesture. "Well, let's give it another chance, shall we?", James Hetfield concludes before continuing with the setlist. Watch it below.
