Tom M. Engelbrecht entered the Guinness World Records for having the most tattoos of a single band.
According to Killer Guitar Rigs , Engelbrecht has forty-three Metallica . He recalled his first Metallica concert: “In 2007, at 17 years old, I went to my first Metallica concert. And I went just because they were a well-known band. At that time I didn't care much about Metallica, I just wanted to see them. But I got hooked! It hit me like a baseball bat to the face. Like, oh my god! Wow, what a band! I loved them from that day forward.”
The fan, who has already been to twenty-four of the band's shows, explained the group's importance in his life: “When I was around 19 years old, I started having mental health problems, and in the midst of depression and anxiety, Metallica became the outlet I reached out to and that saved my life. I used Metallica as therapy. And the more I used Metallica, the closer they got to my heart.”
Asked how many more tattoos he would get before it reached the point of "getting out of control," he replied, "Well, if you ask me, I'd say the day I have to tattoo my face. Because I'll probably never stop."
Tom Engelbrecht has not yet met the band in person, but he said he will attend eleven Metallica shows in 2024.
