The band is the first to play on every continent
Metallica . The band received the nomination for being the first and only band to play on every continent, after performing in Antarctica at the end of 2013.
James Hetfield commented: “Seven continents in one year, with Antarctica being an incredible show… 120 scientists and promotion winners attended. Not to mention 300 very curious penguins .

The band also issued a statement about the achievement: “We didn’t realize we were about to break a world record. It’s great that someone was paying attention while we played on seven continents in one year. Our friends at Guinness noticed and honored us with the nomination.”
The 2015 Guinness Book of Records celebrates the 60th anniversary of the first edition and will be available in stores on September 10th.
