Metallica , along with All Within My Hands, donated $500,000 to help those affected by the wildfires in Los Angeles over the past two weeks.
The California Community Foundation's Wildfire Recovery Fund and the Pasadena Community Foundation's Eaton Canyon Fire Relief and Recovery Fund each received $250,000 to provide assistance to the victims of this catastrophe.
All Within My Hands is a non-profit philanthropic organization created in 2017 by the members and management of Metallica, dedicated to creating sustainable communities by supporting education for workers, fighting hunger, and providing services to places in critical situations.
All expenses for All Within My Hands are covered by the band, the board, and a few special friends so that 100% of the donations received by the foundation go to partner organizations that support AWMH's causes.
In an official statement on the foundation's website and the band's social media, Metallica and All Within My Hands wrote ( via Blabbermouth ):
“The wildfires ravaging the Los Angeles area have relentlessly caused widespread damage and destruction since January 7th and, unfortunately, show no signs of stopping anytime soon. Despite the fire being contained over the weekend, authorities are warning residents to remain vigilant as Santa Ana winds return and are expected to reach 110 kilometers per hour in the coming days, thus creating critical fire conditions.”
“Last week, the community suffered the loss of 24 lives, nearly 100,000 people under evacuation orders, 16,000 hectares burned, and more than 12,000 structures – commercial and residential – destroyed. However, the numbers cannot measure the magnitude of the anguish and how much the disaster devastates families and dismantles livelihoods.”
