Fans brought it to the show
Approximately 10 tons of food were collected by Metallica fans at the band's concert in Colombia on the 1st of this month. The food will be donated to malnourished children and to an organization that helps rehome abandoned animals.
The 25,000 fans attending the Metallica concert were asked to bring 1 kilogram of non-perishable food, which will be donated to children in the Wayuu community in the La Guajira region of northern Colombia. In this community, at least one child dies every week due to lack of food and clean water.
Fans brought over 9 tons of food and other items that were destined for the organization Corazones Peluditos, which helps abandoned animals.
The initiative came from a group of Metallica fans calling themselves Lords of Hardwired, who brought the problem in Colombia to the band's attention.
