Metallica of two shows. The band will no longer be performing at the 'Sonic Temple' and 'Louder Than Life' festivals.
The 'Sonic Temple' concert will take place on May 15th in Columbus, USA. 'Louder Than Life' will be on September 18th in Louisville. The shows in Brazil are still confirmed.
Metallica's vocalist and guitarist, James Hetfield , issued a statement reassuring Brazilian fans:
"Dear Metallica Family,
It's painful to write this, but I have to let everyone know that I won't be able to play at 'Sonic Temple' or 'Louder Than Life' this year. It's part of my ongoing effort to stay healthy. I have very important recovery activities on those dates that cannot be rescheduled. I apologize to all the fans who bought tickets for these festivals. We are working with the promoters to refund or exchange the tickets. My goal with this statement is to say 'I'm sorry' to all of you.
The truth is, I didn't prioritize my health last year, and now I know that my mental health comes first.
On the bright side, my therapy is going well. It was absolutely necessary for my mental, physical, and spiritual well-being.
I want to reiterate that the band will play all the other shows announced for 2020.
I'm looking forward to getting back to playing and seeing our fans in South America again in April. And of course, playing at Epicenter in Charlotte, Welcome to Rockville in Daytona, and Aftershock in Sacramento.
I'm optimistic about what comes after 2020. I appreciate everyone's prayers and help since I went to rehab in September. Like a 'fly being drawn to a flame' [free translation of the single "Moth Into Flame"], simply being human in this career brings enormous challenges and can be very difficult. Your understanding is a healing influence.
James Hetfield
