Metallica 's popularity with the new generation took a turn for the better after the fourth season of Stranger Things , but it may be short-lived. That's because, after becoming a TikTok , the band is now apparently being canceled on the same digital platform.

Recently, some newer fans have expressed discontent upon discovering some of Metallica's controversial behavior over the years. The issue gained greater visibility after a video made by influencer Serena Trueblood .

Serena has a TikTok series called "Is your favorite artist problematic?", where she lists controversial actions by various celebrities beloved by the public, and Metallica is no exception.

In a fairly concise, yet somewhat lengthy video for the platform's standards, the influencer lists a series of past behaviors by band members, such as alleged Nazi salutes in photos and videos, associations with white supremacists and supremacist iconography, and even a recording in which the band appears to be mocking Kurt Cobain .

Another highlight of Serena's speech was the claim that vocalist James Hetfield had rejected the participation of Body Count Ice-T 's heavy metal band , on Metallica's tour with Guns N' Roses in 1992 because the artist was black.

The video used by the influencer includes a statement from a woman who claims to have heard Hetfield use a racist word to refer to the rapper, and a news report from the time alleging that Axl Rose called the vocalist a "racist" after their joint tour. Check out the full video:
