Heavy metal legends have confirmed 34 shows in the Northern Hemisphere.
Over the weekend, Metallica hinted that they would make a big announcement this Monday, the 26th. Today, the metal legends revealed that they will return to North America in September with the WorldWired Tour , promoting their latest album Hardwired… to Self-Destruct (2016).
The 34-date tour takes Metallica to cities the band didn't visit in 2017, and includes areas where they haven't performed in decades: Grand Forks, North Dakota, will host the band's first show in 30 years on September 8, while they will also go to El Paso, Birmingham, Alabama, and Sioux Falls, South Dakota, for the first time in 25 years.
The tour begins on September 2nd in Madison, Wisconsin, and continues through 2019, with the final date on March 13th of next year in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Tickets will go on sale starting March 2nd, and each ticket purchased will include a physical or digital copy of Hardwired… to Self-Destruct .
Currently, Metallica is touring Europe, where drummer Lars Ulrich has been recording episodes for his Beats 1 radio show It's Electric!, talking about some of the cities the band has visited. The musician recently reflected on the group's long relationship with the Spanish capital, Madrid, and discussed the city's music scene. Watch it below.
