Recently, Metallica reached the impressive milestone of 1 billion streams with the song "Enter Sandman" (via Loudwire ).

The number is impressive for any artist, but for a rock song it's even more surprising given the genre's low mainstream presence. To cite an example, not even the song "Master of Puppets," which recently gained popularity after appearing in the series Stranger Things , has reached this milestone yet.

Metallica now joins a relatively small number of rock and metal artists who have reached one billion streams at least once in their career. Other names on the list include AC/DC (with “Highway To Hell”, “Back in Black” and “Thunderstruck”), Bon Jovi (“Livin' On A Prayer”), Linkin Park (“In The End” and “Numb”), Nirvana (“Smells Like Teen Spirit”) and Red Hot Chili Peppers (“Californication” and “Under The Bridge”).

Queen has reached the astonishing milestone of having four songs surpass one billion streams: “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Don't Stop Me Now,” “Another One Bites The Dust,” and “Under Pressure.

“Enter Sandman” is featured on Metallica’s Black Album is not one of Jason Newsted . The bassist, who was one of the song’s composers, thinks the classic is “kind of cheesy,” but chooses “Sad But True” as his favorite.
