Mercyful Fate made history on the night of June 2nd, performing for the first time in 23 years.
The reunion of the iconic band led by King Diamond opened for their fellow Danish band, Volbeat , in Hannover, Germany.
The night was historic, not only because it was the first show since 1999, but also because it marked the debut of a new song called "The Jackal of Salzburg."
Mercyful Fate's reunion shows were announced in 2019 but had to be postponed due to the pandemic.
Mercyful Fate played seven songs, which can be heard below. In addition to the unreleased track, the band chose songs from their classic albums Melissa , Don't Break the Oath , and their debut EP.
