Mustaine talks about Dirk Verbeuren

In an interview with an American radio station, Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine said that the band plans to return to the studio to record a new album later this year.

“We’ll probably go back into the studio and start thinking about the album at the end of the year. We’re thinking November or December, we talked about it yesterday ,” said Mustaine.

The vocalist said he was excited to record with drummer Dirk Verbeuren, who did not participate in the recording of Dystopia , the band's last album. At the time, Chris Adler of Lamb Of God was in the band.

“As good as Chris Adler is, I think Dirk’s feet are more forward. And I didn’t even think that was possible because Chris is a great drummer. But there’s a reason Chris recommended Dirk, and I love him for it. He’s a great friend for giving that recommendation; many people wouldn’t do that. He’s a true friend, and it was great to have him in the studio. Dirk is one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met in my life.”

Megadeth's latest album, Dystopia, achieved their best chart position since Countdown To Extinction and earned the band a Grammy for Best Metal Performance with the title track.
