Megadeth has announced their Farewell Tour , coinciding with the release of their final album, Megadeth . The farewell tour, titled This Was Our Life, will begin in 2026 and could last up to five years.
In an interview with the British magazine Kerrang!, vocalist and founder Dave Mustaine spoke about the tour that will mark the end of more than four decades of the 64-year-old musician's career.
“We’re easily talking about another three to five years of touring. And if we’re going to do this for that long, then, wow, I’ll be thinking about my birthday,” said Mustaine, referring to the fact that he will turn 70 in 2031.
The Megadeth frontman also spoke about the cover of the song "Ride The Lightning" by his former band , Metallica :
“If you’re going to do a cover, you have to do it at least as well as, if not better than, the original. It’s not a cover. Because I also wrote the song. I think other people would say that, but if you’re asking me, I don’t think it’s a cover.”
Regarding whether Megadeth's version will sound better than the original, Dave replied: “When we finished, we played it for a few people, and many people we know are fans of the band and the music, so they knew what they were hearing. A vs. B, and the consensus was pretty much the same — that we did a proper tribute. I think we did at least as well — it's a little faster.”
Megadeth will bring their farewell tour to Brazil, with a single show on May 2nd, 2026, at Espaço Unimed in São Paulo. Tickets are already sold out.
