On the first day of 2021, on the More Nights With Deth , Megadeth bassist David Ellefson and his faithful companion Thom Hazaert joined together to discuss their New Year's resolutions alongside special guest rock photographer Neil A. Lim Sang .

But above their personal wishes for a new year, the desire for the end of the pandemic is undoubtedly the dream that unites much of the world, and for David Ellefson, this is no exception. “The reality is that the world isn’t going to open up until this is gone. I know my daughter will probably get [the vaccine]; she’s in nursing now, so she’s kind of one of the frontline workers. And there are going to be certain people who are going to have to do that. The reality is that we’re not just going to stay home until it disappears – that’s not how it’s going to be. So the only other option is to get the vaccine. That’s the reality, that’s what it is.”

“Look, we want the world to open up,” he continued. “We all want to go out and rock. It was fun watching KISS in Dubai online [on New Year’s Eve], but I’d rather see them play here in the city. It would be more fun than watching on my laptop. So, I’m a fan too. I want to go see shows; I want to see my friends play. I go out and support the cause. I buy a t-shirt. I even buy tickets from time to time.”

Ellefson took the opportunity to reveal some tragic news about his experience with the world during the pandemic, revealing that one of his uncles in Jackson, Minnesota, died a few weeks ago from complications caused by COVID-19. “And another friend of mine here in Scottsdale [died too],” he said. “A friend just called me this afternoon. It was my friend who I was with last night, and he just said, ‘Hey, a friend of ours died.’ And I was like, ‘Wow.’”
