Megadeth at Rock In Rio: Kiko Loureiro speaks out about the cancellation of the show at the festival.

“I was very upset,” the guitarist wrote about the change of plans.

Kiko Loureiro , Brazilian guitarist for Megadeth , spoke out on social media about the news of the cancellation of the band's performance at Rock In Rio 2022 , which was scheduled for Metal Day, September 2nd.

The news reached fans last Tuesday, the 12th, in an official statement from the festival, published hours after Megadeth announced a US tour with a show on the same date as the Rio event.

Through Instagram Stories, Kiko Loureiro opened a question box to receive fan reactions to the cancellation and wrote about it. “Like everyone who bought a ticket, I was also quite upset about this cancellation. Rock in Rio was the reason I started playing guitar. In 1991, I saw Megadeth from the audience… It would have been an honor to play on the main stage. What a shame. See you soon. I miss Brazil!”, he said.

Megadeth's only performance at Rock in Rio was in 1991. The band was announced again in 2019, but Dave Mustaine was diagnosed with cancer and the performance was canceled, with Helloween as replacements . This year's performance on the Palco Mundo stage would have been Loureiro's debut at the festival with the band.
