This is not a test: Megadeth has officially begun recording their new album, their first new material since 2016's Dystopia
After spending the last two years working on the new album and being prevented from entering the studio earlier due to the COVID-19 pandemic, bassist David Ellefson revealed to The Metal Circus that the album is finally on its way.
“So, look, it’s in progress. I think that’s the good news now – the album is officially in progress. We’ve been writing it since the end of 2017,” said Ellefson, “Our last show was in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in November 2017. And so the intention since then was just to start composing. But it’s on its way – the ship is sailing, which is great.”
The artist also gave details about the recording, saying, “The main thing, the first thing we wanted to do was drums and bass, so Dirk [Verbeuren] were working on that last week.” It's worth remembering that the new Megadeth album will be the first album by the legendary band that Verbeuren will participate in.
