Dave Mustaine , leader of Megadeth , had already confirmed the complete exclusion of David Ellefson from the band's new album after the musician's dismissal . The vocalist revealed in a video that the album is almost finished and the bass for all tracks has already been re-recorded.
Without revealing whether the band has already chosen a new permanent member for the position, Mustaine confirmed the completion of this stage in a video recorded for the Cameo , where fans can pay for personalized messages from the singer . “It’s just a matter of finishing up a few parts when I get home, [between] today and tomorrow. All the bass parts are ready,” he commented. “It won’t take long.”
According to Blabbermouth , Mustaine is currently in Florida, where he received the COVID-19 vaccine, and is expected to finish the album in Tennessee, where he lives.
The band may have already found Ellefson's permanent replacement or simply hired a one-off musician. Either way, the frontman praised the mysterious bassist even before the recordings began. "The person we're talking to is a stellar bassist," he revealed on the Gimme Radio show (via Loudwire) .
Before his dismissal, Ellefson praised the band's work in the studio. "We could have released [the album] as an instrumental CD and it would have been a great progressive metal record. It was a pleasure to listen to," he said in April.
