Band manager denies rumors
Megadeth issued a statement yesterday addressing accusations that they had excluded Newsted from two dates of the Soundwave Festival. The rumors began when the festival organizers published a statement on their official website saying that "At Megadeth's request," Newsted would be excluded from the Australian shows.
In a statement to ABC News Radio, Megadeth tour manager Jim Carroccio said:
“Megadeth had absolutely nothing to do with Newsted’s departure from the Australian tour. Dave Mustaine is not responsible for Newsted’s removal. Dave didn’t put him on the lineup and he didn’t take him off. Dave submitted a list of bands he was comfortable with and the festival promoter ignored it. Dave and Jason are friends and this blew up into something silly.”.
On his official Facebook page, Mustaine responded to a fan's comment expressing disappointment: “Look, I’m disappointed too. I explained it to Jason this morning. We didn’t put him on the show and we didn’t take him off the show. He understands, why can’t you understand too?”
