Megadeth David Ellefson 's solo project , which uses his own surname as its name, has released a cover of rapper Post Malone .

Malone, who recently performed a live tribute to Nirvana that was very well received by rock fans, and who collaborated with Ozzy Osbourne on his latest album , Hollywood's Bleeding , was praised by Ellefson.

“We’re all Posty fans, and he’s also a big fan of Megadeth and all things metal. Besides being a great song across any genre, our cover of 'Over Now' serves to show mutual admiration and as a tribute to our friend,” said the guitarist.

Ellefson vocalist Thom Hazaert added, “I’m honestly a big fan of his stuff, his lyrics. I can honestly say, and I talk about this all the time, that it’s been a long time since there’s been an artist who impresses me or influences what I’m doing more than Post Malone.”

“As I told him, some of my stuff on Sleeping Giants was heavily influenced by Beerbongs & Bentleys [Post Malone's second album], which I spent two months on our tour last year listening to on repeat while we were traveling the country (…) Posty is a rock and metal guy at heart, and I think 'Over Now' is definitely a metal song at its core.” Quite a moral, huh?

The cover will be part of Ellefson's next album, scheduled for release in October of this year.
