Megadeth: Dave Mustaine reveals marijuana helped in his cancer treatment.

“I think the world is only now discovering the beauty of cannabis and all that it can do for you,” Mustaine stated.

Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine stated in an Metal Hammer magazine that using cannabis in his cancer treatment had positive effects.

“My last treatment was in September (2019) and I had plenty of time to rest, exercise and eat right before we went back on the road. We did 22 international shows and I feel great now, except for the fatigue,” Mustaine comments, adding, “But I think a lot of that must be because of, hmmm, extracurricular activities. Staying up late. Sleeping poorly. Maybe a little bit of, you know… [puts his thumb and forefinger to his lips and inhales]”

According to the musician, marijuana helped him alleviate the cruel side effects of the 51 (!) radiotherapy sessions and nine chemotherapy sessions, all to cure the throat tumor of the heavy metal .

Besides the positive aspects of the substance, Mustaine also admitted that one of the consequences of marijuana use was developing a sweet tooth, “The radiation wrecked my salivary glands so I couldn’t produce saliva, which made swallowing and eating very difficult. They gave me this crazy mouthwash that had Benadryl and lidocaine in it, but I still couldn’t eat. So cannabis helped with that, but the problem is that I developed a terrible craving for children’s cereal. I went to the store and bought like, 20 boxes,” the musician stated.

When asked in the interview about the eternally controversial debate surrounding the legalization of marijuana, Mustaine stated, “I think the world is only now discovering the beauty of cannabis and everything it can do for you,” said the singer. “I hear people talking about how good it is for cancer patients. Good grief, it’s good for patients with any fucking disease!”
