Mustaine demands an apology
Following the controversy surrounding who was to blame for Newsted's band's expulsion from the Australian Soundwave Festival tour, Megadeth announced this weekend that they will not be participating in the shows. The band's justification is that they are waiting for an apology from the show's promoter.
The controversy began when the festival's official website posted a message stating that "At Megadeth's request," Newsted would be left out of the Australian shows. Megadeth then issued a statement saying they were not responsible for Newsted's removal: "Dave Mustaine is not responsible for Newsted's withdrawal. Dave didn't put him on the lineup and he didn't take him off."
Yesterday, Dave Mustaine posted a statement on the band's official Facebook page, demanding an apology from the Soundwave promoter: “All I asked for was an apology for blaming me for something I didn't do. I'm still willing to play, but the promoter prefers not to apologize and say that I asked him to lie, which I didn't. Am I the only one who sees how easy it is to resolve all this?”

AJ Maddah, the event organizer, then posted a series of tweets blaming Megadeth's former representatives: “We followed instructions from their representatives, as we would with any other band. I understand that during this process, you fired agents and representatives. And there may have been misunderstandings, but none of them were on our part. I don't know where you think we owe you an apology. If anyone owes you one, it's your representatives. You're just punishing the fans.”
The promoter ends with a tweet saying, “There you go, Dave. I apologize for any disrespect I may have shown you. So, does that mean the tour is back?”
