Rock in Rio confirmed via its social media that Megadeth 's participation in the event has been cancelled. The band was scheduled to perform on Metal Day, September 2nd.

Although no further information has been released regarding the reasons for the cancellation, Megadeth announced earlier this Tuesday, the 12th , a US tour with Five Finger Death Punch with dates that would coincide with their participation in the Brazilian festival – which until then was officially confirmed.

Rock in Rio has announced that a new act will be revealed soon to replace Megadeth. The band has not yet commented on the cancellation.
