Megadeth announces the return of James LoMenzo as David Ellefson's replacement.

Former Black Label Society member returns to the band as a hired musician.

Megadeth David Ellefson 's replacement for the North American tour: James LoMenzo is back to join the band on stage.

Black Label Society member LoMenzo previously played with Dave Mustaine between 2006 and 2010, during which time he recorded the albums United Abominations (2007) and Endgame (2009). The following year, he left to make way for Ellefson, who was returning to the band after a series of conflicts.

“I’m happy to announce that the former Megadeth bassist is graciously joining the tour. Rehearsals have just begun and we can’t wait to smash North America,” the vocalist commented in a statement (via Loudwire ).

Scheduled to begin on August 20th, The Metal Tour of the Year has dates announced until June 2022. It's important to note that LoMenzo will not be replacing Ellefson in the band's lineup; he is only a musician hired for the tour at this time. The identity of the "mystery bassist" who recorded the new album with the band and could permanently join Megadeth has not yet been revealed.
