Bassist David Ellefson said that the beginning of 2020 is the expected date
David Ellefson said that fans will probably have to wait until 2020 for a new Megadeth .
The band hasn't released new music since 2016 with the album Dystopia . The title track won a Grammy for Best Metal Performance at the 2017 ceremony.
Ellefson said: “Our intention was to spend 2018 writing the new album. Perhaps our biggest challenge is that we don't live in the same cities. Kiko and Dirk are in LA, I'm in Scottsdale, and Dave is in Nashville. Nashville is kind of our creative hub, where we rehearse and do everything,” he explained.
“Obviously we planned the tour with Ozzy , which had to be postponed until next year. This probably opened a perfect window for us to work on the album. We would like it to come out this year, but given how long these things take, I think it's unlikely. In that case, sometime in early 2020 would be the best prediction for when the album will be released.”
