MC5 announces dates for a celebratory tour with members of Soundgarden and King's X.

So far the tour will only include the USA

Wayne Kramer, guitarist and songwriter for MC5, revealed the 35 dates that will be part of the tour celebrating the 50th anniversary of the group's debut album, Kick Out the Jams (1969).

The Kick Out the Jams: The 50th Anniversary Tour will begin on September 5th in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and will end in October with two shows in Detroit, the band's hometown. The setlist for the performances will feature the complete tracklist of the Kick Out the Jams with an encore of other MC5 hits.

Kramer will be accompanied by a large band consisting of Kim Thayil, guitarist of Soundgarden, Fugazi drummer Brendan Canty, King's X bassist Dug Pinnick, and Marcus Durant, frontman of Zen Guerrilla. Dennis Thompson, the only remaining member of MC5 besides Kramer, will participate in some shows chosen according to his schedule.

Tickets for the North American shows go on sale this Friday, April 6th. Check out all the dates below.

To accompany the tour, Kramer will release a book titled The Hard Stuff: Dope, Crime, the MC5, and My Life of Impossibilities , in which he will talk about his childhood and the beginnings of the MC5, which he founded as a teenager. "In the book, Kramer tells the unique story of a band that mixed the usual sex, drugs, and rock and roll with the radical politics of the White Panther Party, FBI surveillance, wiretapping, and more," says a statement released to the press.

The book is scheduled for release on August 14th and you can already pre-order it by clicking here.
