The band is expected to release the new album later this year.

Maynard James Keenan, vocalist of Tool, compared the band's highly anticipated new album to Guns N' Roses' Chinese Democracy

The progressive metal icons released their last album in 2006, 10,000 Days , and since then fans have been yearning for new music.

During an interview with Revolver, Keenan jokingly suggested that the wait for Tool's fifth studio album is as long as it was for Guns N' Roses' last album, which took about 15 years to be released.

Keenan continued: “It seemed like Tool couldn’t get going no matter how hard I tried. I tested every trick in the book .” The musician revealed that the delay in recording the album was so long that he took the opportunity to resume his other project, the band A Perfect Circle, which recently announced its return with a new album, Eat The Elephant.

While there's no release date yet, Tool's new album is expected to be released soon, as the band has already revealed the start of the recording process.
