Max Cavalera talks about corruption in Brazil

Max Cavalera will perform in Brazil between October and November

Soulfly frontman and former Sepultura member Max Cavalera spoke in an interview with Unites Rock Nations about the inspiration behind the song "Evil Empowered." The track is part of Soulfly's album Ritual , the band's 11th studio album.

"It's about the corruption of leaders and about every leader who is elected who catches this disease called corruption and uses their power for evil, and not for the people," he said.

"Brazil has been a victim of corruption for many years, ever since I was a child. We've only had one good president, and he was assassinated by others who seized power. And this only serves to show that if someone is good, they kill them; they don't want good people involved. It's the system; it's how all of society, the whole system works. It's practically similar all over the world, I think, everywhere."

"It's bad because it's a really great country, I think, with so much potential to be very, very good. And it's kind of wasted on corruption and wrongdoing; instead of helping the country, they do the opposite. And that sucks. I hope it will be better someday.".

Soulfly's new album will be released on October 19th by Nuclear Blast.

Max will come to Brazil with his brother, Iggor Cavalera, to play Sepultura classics between October and November.
