In an interview with Matt Zaniboni of Metal Express Radio , Max Cavalera spoke about Soulfly , which is already in production. Excited, the frontman said he wants to return to the sound of their first two releases, Soulfly (1998) and Primitive (1998).
“I think there was a magic surrounding the old records that kind of got lost over the years. Since I have things like [side projects] Go Ahead And Die and Cavalera Conspiracy to satisfy my extreme underground tastes, I can let Soulfly be Soulfly again,” he stated.
Max also says that Soulfly's thirteenth album will be "what it should have been after Primitive ," with a free, powerful band and music full of heavy tribal elements.

New album will pay tribute to Vania Cavalera
In an interview with the German website Moshpit Passion , Max said that his next release will be a "spiritual" album, dedicated to his mother, who passed away last year on July 5th. "I'll make this album for her," said the Soulfly frontman.
Returning to the subject of sound, Max believes that most fans prefer the "old" Soulfly, and that despite following a more rhythmic and tribal line, he will not adopt nu metal as a style. In addition to returning to the sound of the band's beginnings,
He says the new material will be influenced by what he's been listening to lately, such as Kublai Khan , Jesus Piece , Knocked Loose , and Judiciary – bands associated with metalcore and similar genres.
